Fall have you feelin' frenzied? Our founder, Nicole Centeno, shares her fave things to pair with your meals in order to fuel your Autumn days without adding anything more to your to do list.

The filtered version of fall is cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice latte selfies, and #backtoschool outfits. The reality, for me at least, is losing 60 minutes each morning to school drop offs, lunchbox prep, and general frenzy as I try to acclimate to a schedule that’s very different from summertime. My hair is less likely to be washed, I am off my meditation game, and my end of day state is generally exhaustion.

However! We have a fix for that. Here are some Splendid pairings designed to brighten up a meal, augment your mealtime relaxation, and as always - help you feel better during those rushed in-between moments!

1) Our Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Okay, I know I just mocked the PSL but really, who doesn’t love some cinnamon pumpkin goodness on the way to the office!? Our version has way less sugar (9g per 80z serving vs. 25g, to be exact) and also packed with superfoods like baobab and turmeric to help with digestion, reduce inflammation, and keep you satisfied. We love it as a harvest-inspired smoothie bowl too - top with a swirl of plant-based yogurt, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a flurry of pumpkin seeds and pecans to really get in the Fall spirit.

2) A Warm Water Infusion

I’m a big believer in hydration first thing in the morning, but as the weather cools down I notice I have a harder time downing those first 16 oz. Instead, try a mug of hot water with ginger, turmeric, lemon, and cinnamon. It’s a great way to hydrate and stay cozy throughout the morning routine. Equally therapeutic in a thermos while hauling the kids to school!

3) Herb-Infused Oils

Herbs are such a simple way to add something special to a meal. I love putting fresh woody herbs like sage, rosemary, and thyme into a jar of olive oil, and keeping it at the office to add to my soups and grain bowls. Herbs have soothing aromatic qualities that help me relax a bit more. Even if it’s just a moment to take a deep inhale before I eat, I treasure it. The details really count toward stress reduction.

4) An Evening Antioxidant Indulgence

I like to shake up my evening routine a bit in the Fall as well. If I’m earlier to rise, I want to wind down earlier, and a soothing ritual is so helpful to put me in a restful state. My favorite Autumn rituals are centered on a little indulgence - a reward for the hustle and clean-eating of the day. A glass of my favorite red wine, a piece of my favorite dark chocolate, or a richly flavored decaf tea like Bellocq’s chai with a twist of orange peel. All of these indulgences are also great antioxidant sources, which combat stress and damage at the cellular level.
