We may eat a lot of plants, but you better believe there’s a whole lot of variety, and a bit of naughty, going on behind closed doors. We know you want a peek ;).

This week, we’re peeking into the fridge of mom, certified health and wellness coach, meditator, yoga teacher, and fitness professional Melissa Wood.

Splendid Spoon: Hey Melissa! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Melissa Wood: I’m a wife, mom to my two and a half year old son, Benjamin, and creator of the MWH method. The MWH method is a combination of yoga and pilates-style moves, designed to create long, lean lines through your entire body.

I also thrive on a plant-based diet and I’m a devoted meditator. In reality, this all means I’m a tired working mom, living out the dream of turning my passion into a business.

SS: What are the 5 essentials you can’t live without?
MW: Meditation, daily probiotic, catalyst gold [A superpowered supplement — Ed.], colonics, and my workouts.

SS: You’re a busy working mom. What are your go-to weeknight meals for you and Benjamin?
MW: There are two easy staple recipes in my home which Benjamin eats too: quinoa stir-fry and brown rice pasta with greens.

SS: What’s the weirdest thing in your fridge?
MW: Sauerkraut and meal-prepped oatmeal. Benjamin eats oatmeal multiple times a day!

SS: What’s your fave sweet and what’s your fave savory?
MW: I’m not a big sweets person, but my favorite is peanut Sattva Vida energy bites. If fruit counts, I don’t discriminate, and always eat a ton in the mornings. My favorite savory is hands down chips and guac (I use this guac recipe)!

SS: If you were one thing in your fridge, what would it be?
MW: Kale.

SS: What food do you turn to when you want something comforting or nostalgic? Although we eat to keep our bodies strong and healthy, food also connects us to our past, to friends, and to different times in our lives.
MW: Cucumber and tomato salad. No one makes it like my Mom did growing up. Also, a good cup of coffee in the morning always brings me back to mornings with my Mom.
