We just launched two new exciting smoothie flavors: Coconut Lime and Coffee Frappé! Curious what ingredients go into these flavors? We checked in with Kim Rose, RDN, to explore the summer smoothies' ingredients and highlight their benefits.

Summer is officially here! It’s time to get outdoors, soak up the sunshine, and live adventurously. Even my taste buds have a date with adventure this summer. A cool, satisfying smoothie on a sunny afternoon sounds epic right about now. But an ordinary smoothie won't match my vacay vibes. Don’t get me wrong, flavor and nutrients are still important, but the same old smoothie can be a bit stodgy. Sometimes you need to mix things up a bit—after all, variety is the spice of life. Now I’m not going to give you some fancy recipe. Instead, let me suggest two new smoothies Splendid Spoon just added to their lineup: the Coffee Frappé Smoothie and Coconut Lime Smoothie.

Coffee Frappé Smoothie

If you're looking for an instant island getaway in a drink, look no further because this smoothie is it! It contains coconut cream and maca powder, which are two powerhouse ingredients with tropical flare. Coconut cream is simply a thicker form of coconut milk. That means it's creamier, tastier and more indulgent as it contains a bit more fat than coconut milk. I know you may be thinking, ‘but, fat is bad, right?’ Nope. Contrary to popular belief, fat is not always the bad guy. We all need a certain amount of fat to help cushion our internal organs and produce hormones in our bodies. Fun fact: Certain vitamins cannot and will not be absorbed without the addition of fat. So coconut cream (a fat) will specifically help the body to absorb vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. In other words, our bodies can benefit from a little coconut cream from time to time.

Next, is maca. Maca is a popular Ayurvedic root that is highly nutritious. For example, it's bursting with Vitamin C. The ingestion of Vitamin C is important because our bodies cannot make this vitamin. We must obtain it from the foods we eat. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects the cells of the body. It also helps the body naturally produce collagen, which helps to build the bones, skin, and muscles. That's right. When it comes to looking and feeling your summer best, coconut cream and maca are a win-win.

The Coffee Frappé Smoothie with coconut cream and maca is perfect for you if you're looking for a refreshing way to nourish that summer bod of yours.

Coconut Lime Smoothie

Is it just me, or do coconut and lime make a tasty duo? Splendid Spoon's Coconut Lime Smoothie is another tropical treat made for summer sippin'. It contains lime, coconut cream, avocado and spirulina, making it a soirée of creamy, sweet and slightly tangy flavors. What’s more is that the spirulina found in this smoothie is a blue-green algae that is filled with antioxidants. Rumor has it that spirulina may also help support the immune system. What can beat that?

The Coconut Lime Smoothie with avocado and spirulina is perfect for you if you need more antioxidants and other nutrients, yet still want to have the flexibility to enjoy a fun, summery drink.

The Bottom Line

Whether you choose the Coffee Frappé Smoothie or Coconut Lime Smoothie, remember this: have fun this summer. These two plant-powered smoothies are a perfectly refreshing and stress-free addition for any summer activity you have planned. Cheers!
