Q: What are 3 words that come to mind when you think of your role as a father figure?

Protection/Encouragement/Support

Q: What is the best part of being a father-figure?

Putting someone else's welfare above your own. An illustration-when my daughter was a baby, I was pushing her in her stroller on a long walk through a park near our house. Often butterflies ("flutterbyes") would land close to her. One time, to my horror, I looked down, and there was instead a bee perched on her little leg. Within milliseconds I reached down and grabbed it off. Bravery? No, that requires some forethought. This was something more primitive-an innate selflessness that dwells within a parent.

Q: What has the spirit of fatherhood taught you?

(Reference the 1st question above.). An apt metaphor for this occurred when my daughter was learning to ride her bicycle without the training wheels. She might recall my big hands pushing on her back to get her started. However, she might also remember that once she got going she could see one of these hands on each side of her as I ran along behind to catch her if she fell.

Q: Favorite family meal?

Grilled steaks (rib eyes or filets).

My special Caesar salad (hand-tossed).

Baked sweet potatoes (with Splenda brown sugar & chopped pecans).

Q: Favorite Splendid Spoon Meal?

Oh wow, that is a tough one-too many tasty choices! Ummm, uh, hmmm, okay, I suppose it would be, drum roll, ready for it: Creamy Butternut Squash Noodles.

Q: What are 3 words that come to mind when you think of your role as a father figure?

Model Unconditional Love

Q: What is the best part of being a father figure?

I have enjoyed every part of being a father, from the time each kid was born and now watching them blossom into really great human beings today.  It is just an honor to be part of their journey. A dear client of mine once said, “the world needs great kids, you have great kids so have more” which is how I got to 4 kids from 2 when he made the comment.

Q: What has the spirit of fatherhood taught you?

My father left when I was 5 and never looked back. I learned one thing from my father which is “Don’t leave”. Having a constant and solid presence in the lives of my kids is so life giving to me and I am simply modeling what I would want in a father. My kids have made it such a joy to be their father.

Q: Favorite family meal?

I love to cook and my favorite family meal is when I make Mexican Street food. The kids get so excited that they end up inviting friends so it turns into a pretty big Sunday family taco dinner. I think we have approached 15 people one dinner

Q: What is your favorite Splendid Spoon meal?

Splendid Spoon meals help sustain me though Covid times. I was coming into the office while the four kids were doing school from home and I would open up my Splendid Spoon for lunch each day. I have always said that Splendid Spoon is a perfect balance between functional and experiential eating. Great nutrition along with getting to try so many different flavors. My favorite soup is the Carrot Lentil Soup but it is hard to choose just one.
